On August 16, the STRONG High Seas project, together with the Abidjan Convention Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific, held an online seminar on “Marine Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction in the Southeast Pacific and Southeast Atlantic”.
Effective monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) is critical for the success of marine conservation and management. Whereas States have the right to manage the marine resources within their national jurisdiction, the high seas are subject to a complex patchwork of international rules and regulations.
