On 29-31 March 2022, the STRONG High Seas project, including the Secretariat of the Abidjan Convention and the Secretariat of the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific (CPPS), organised the fifth STRONG High Seas Dialogue Workshop. This workshop brought together more than 130 participants from national governments from the Southeast Atlantic and Southeast Pacific regions as well as global and regional organisations, scientific institutions, academia, the private sector, and NGOs. On 26-27 May 2021, the Secretariat of the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific (CPPS) and the STRONG High Seas project organised the fourth Dialogue Workshop in the Southeast Pacific region. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop was held online and brought together more than 100 participants from CPPS member countries as well as global and regional organisations, regional scientific institutions, academia, the private sector and NGOs.
The online seminar entitled ‘Sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity in ABNJ in the South-East Pacific’ took place in the framework of the joint activities of the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific (CPPS) and the STRONG High Seas project and was held on 26-27 January 2021. It aimed at providing a platform for discussion among experts from the Southeast Pacific region on possible measures to conserve and sustainably manage biodiversity in the marine areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ) of this region.
