The Marine Regions Forum 2023 took place in the Western Indian Ocean, hosted by the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Seychelles. The conference brought together 183 global and regional experts from 7th to the 9th November, for three days of interactive discussions and knowledge exchange to enhance cooperation and advance ocean governance in the region and beyond. Marine Regions Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
The Marine Regions Forum’s engagement with the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region took a leap forward recently, thanks to an invitation from the Nairobi Convention Secretariat to attend a Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and Information Management Strategy (IMS) capacity development workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

PROG at Meeting of the Communities of Ocean Action “From Commitments to Action: Implementing SDG14,” 30-31 May 2019, Incheon
From 30 – 31 May, the PROG Marine Regions Forum project attended the UN Meeting of the Communities of Ocean Action (COAs) in Incheon, South Korea. The Meeting brought together the Voluntary Commitments (VCs) made at the 2017 UN Ocean Conference – a growing list that now includes more than 1,500 commitments for action to advance the implementation of SDG 14. PROG team joined world leaders at the Paris Peace Forum
Heads of States and government from 65 countries gathered in Paris to mark the end of the First World War and attended the Paris Peace Forum after the Remembrance Day ceremony led by French President Emmanuel Macron. Selected to present challenges related to regional ocean governance, the PROG team joined the world leaders in the Peace Forum held in Paris, France from 11 to 13 November 2018.
